What is the engine assembly?
An engine assembly, also called an engine, is a machine that converts one form of energy into another and, more commonly, chemical to mechanical energy (electric motors that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy). Sometimes it applies to both the power generation unit and the whole machine, including the power unit. Such as gasoline engines, aviation engines.

Two, engine assembly classification
A car engine usually burns gasoline (diesel) internally to gain kinetic energy, so a car engine is an internal combustion engine.
1. According to the fuel used: it can be divided into gasoline engine and diesel engine. Gasoline engine and diesel engine have their own characteristics; Gasoline engine has high speed, low quality, low noise, easy to start and low manufacturing cost; Diesel engine has large compression ratio, high thermal efficiency, emission performance and economic performance far better than gasoline engine.
2, according to the piston movement mode: piston internal combustion engine can be divided into reciprocating piston type and rotary piston type two. The first piston reciprocates in a straight line in the cylinder, while the second piston rotates in the cylinder.
3. According to the number of cylinders: it can be divided into single cylinder engine and multi-cylinder engine. An engine with only one cylinder is called a single cylinder engine; An engine with more than two cylinders is called a multi-cylinder engine. Modern car engines use three -, four -, six - and eight-cylinder engines.
4. According to the arrangement of the cylinder, it can be divided into single column, double column and three columns. The cylinders of a single-row engine are arranged in a row, usually vertically, but sometimes tilted or even horizontally to reduce height. A double-row engine lines up the cylinders in two rows. The Angle between the two columns is 180° (generally 90°), which is called a V-engine. If the Angle between the two columns is 180°, the engine is said to be opposed. The three-row type arranges the cylinders in three rows to become the W engine.
5. Classification by stroke: internal combustion engines can be divided into four-stroke internal combustion engines and two-stroke internal combustion engines according to the number of strokes needed to complete a working cycle. Automobile engines generally use four-stroke internal combustion engines. Four-stroke internal combustion engine refers to the completion of a working cycle, the piston in the cylinder up and down reciprocating four strokes, the crankshaft rotation twice (720°), two-stroke internal combustion engine is half of the working process.
6. According to the air intake system, the pressurization method is adopted: it can be divided into pressurized (forced intake) and non-pressurized (natural inspiration). The use of supercharger to increase the intake pressure and increase the intake density is a kind of supercharged internal combustion engine, which is beneficial to increase the power of internal combustion engine. The air intake in the near atmospheric state is non-pressurized internal combustion engine or naturally aspirated internal combustion engine;
7. Classification by cooling mode: internal combustion engine can be divided into water-cooled engine and air-cooled engine according to different cooling mode. The water-cooled engine is cooled by the circulating coolant in the cylinder block and the cylinder head cooling sleeve as the cooling medium. Air-cooled engines use air flowing between the cylinder block and the fins on the outer surface of the cylinder head as the cooling medium. Cooling. Water-cooled engine has the advantages of uniform cooling, reliable operation and good cooling effect. It is widely used in modern automobile engines.

Three, the engine assembly development history
Looking back on the history of engine generation and development, it has experienced two stages of development: external combustion engine and internal combustion engine.
An external combustion engine is one in which the fuel is burned outside the engine, and the engine converts the heat generated by the combustion into kinetic energy. The steam engine invented by Watt is a typical external combustion engine. When large quantities of coal are burned, heat is produced. When heated into large amounts of water vapor, a high pressure is generated, which then drives the mechanical work, thus completing the transition from heat to kinetic energy.
Know what an external combustion engine is, know what an internal combustion engine is. The biggest difference between this engine and an external combustion engine is that the fuel is burned internally. There are many types of internal combustion engines. Our common gasoline and diesel engines are typically internal combustion engines. The less common rocket and jet engines that we assemble on airplanes are also internal combustion engines. But because of the different power output mode, the former two and the latter two have huge differences. Generally speaking, the former is mostly used on the ground, while the latter is mostly used in the air. Of course, some automakers use jet engines to set new world car speed records,
In addition, there is a gas turbine, which is characterized by combustion to produce high pressure gas, the high pressure of the gas drives the gas turbine blade rotation, so as to output power. Gas turbines are used in a wide range of applications, but because their power output is difficult to fine-tune, they are rarely used in cars and motorcycles, and only some cars are equipped with gas turbines.
At present, four-cylinder or six-cylinder diesel internal combustion engine is commonly used in wheel loaders, which can be divided into two forms: direct injection and electric injection. Supporting manufacturers include Weichai Power, Shangchai Power, Yuchai Machine and Cummin Engine.
Human intelligence is inexhaustible, and a variety of new engines are constantly being developed. But, to be on the safe side, so far our lovely motorcycle has only one option - a reciprocating engine.
